My Water Buddy (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the My Water Buddy mobile application.
Information We Collect
Personal Information
You can use the app as a Guest (no account required, all data stays on your device) or by signing in with a Google account. We do not support email/password.
- Email address — only if you sign in with Google
- Display name from your Google account
- Profile photo URL from your Google account (optional)
- Firebase user ID (a random identifier we use to look up your data)
- Photo or camera access — only used when you choose to set a custom profile photo. The photo is processed on your device and uploaded to your private Firestore document.
Health-related Information
My Water Buddy collects hydration-related data including:
- Body weight (used to calculate daily water goal)
- Gender (optional, for personalization)
- Wake-up and sleep times
- Daily water intake entries (amount and timestamp)
- Hydration goals and streaks
This information is collected solely to provide app functionality (personalized goals, reminders, analytics).
Device and Usage Information
- Device type and operating system version
- App version and language preference
- Push notification token (FCM) — saved to your Firestore document so we can send targeted in-app updates and engagement messages
- Anonymous usage events (screens visited, features used)
- Crash reports
How We Use Your Information
- Calculate your personalized daily hydration goal
- Send daily reminders during your wake hours (Premium feature, opt-in)
- Sync your history across devices when signed in
- Provide premium features and process subscriptions
- Send important in-app updates and engagement messages via FCM push notifications (you can disable push permissions in your device settings at any time)
- Determine whether a forced update is required (via Firebase Remote Config — version comparison only)
- Improve app performance, stability, and security
- Respond to support requests
How We Store Your Data
Your data is stored on-device with Hive local database. If you sign in, your hydration history is also synced to Firebase Cloud Firestore, protected by Firebase security rules. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
Subscriptions and Payments
My Water Buddy offers an optional Premium subscription:
- Monthly — USD 1.99 / month (auto-renewing)
- Yearly — USD 18.99 / year (auto-renewing)
Prices are localised by the platform to your country's currency. Payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store payment card details. We receive only an anonymous purchase token to verify your subscription status.
No Advertising
My Water Buddy contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party ads. We do not collect or share any advertising identifier, and we never sell your data to advertisers.
Google Health (Health Connect)
Premium users may opt in to mirror their water intake to Google Health (the Android system health store, also known as Health Connect). This is strictly opt-in via Settings → "Google Health".
- Data type accessed: Hydration only.
- Operation: Write-only at this time — we do not read your existing health data.
- Purpose: So other fitness apps and devices can see your hydration alongside steps, sleep, and other metrics.
- User control: You can turn the sync off at any time in My Water Buddy Settings. You can also revoke the permission from your device's Health Connect app at any time.
- Selling/sharing: Health data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. It only flows from My Water Buddy to your local system health store on your device.
- Server transmission: The hydration data written to Google Health stays on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers (the same value is separately synced to your private Firestore document under standard cloud sync described elsewhere in this policy).
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Authentication — Google sign-in and account management
- Cloud Firestore — secure cloud sync of your hydration data and per-user FCM tokens
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage insights
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery (token is stored in your Firestore document so we can target specific users for engagement notifications)
- Firebase Remote Config — server-driven flags (e.g. minimum supported app version for the force-update screen)
- Google Play Billing — subscription processing
- Google Health (Health Connect) — optional on-device mirroring of hydration (Premium, opt-in)
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures (TLS encryption in transit, Firebase security rules at rest). No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
Account and Data Deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In-app: Settings → Delete account → confirm.
- Web request: submit a deletion request if you no longer have the app installed.
- Email: support@swiftoutlet.com
In-app deletion is immediate. Email-requested deletions are completed within 14 days of identity verification.
Children's Privacy
My Water Buddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Medical Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: My Water Buddy is a wellness tool for general hydration tracking only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
